XE956 MAKING PROGRESS

The Vampire has started to look like an aeroplane!

When she arrived at St Athan in September, she was little more than a few large components and a whole lot of boxes of bits. Now, thanks to the expertise of Gary Spoors and his team, she's beginning to look like the exploded view you might find in the centre pages of  The Eagle comic.

It's often said that, when a restoration project begins to look complete, you're about half way there. Well, XE956 is a long way from even that milestone, so there's a very long road ahead, but this first glimpse of her as a real aircraft is incredibly exciting.

We apologise that this is necessary, but the unprincipled idiots who unleash spam programs on the Internet force us to do something to at least slow them down!

We can't say yet, Will, but we dare to hope. Laying the aircraft out like this helps to make an assessment and to develop a detailed restoration plan. It's still very early days yet, but a return to flight is always the ultimate aim.
